“THIN IS IN” AS BRUSHFOIL UNVEILS SLEEK, EFFICIENT GUILFORD, Connecticut, U.S.A. – Brushfoil, Division of Interfilm Holdings, Inc. of Guilford, Connecticut, U.S.A., the world’s leader in metallized brushed films for labels, lamination and high tech appliance and automotive applications introduces its new line of 48 gauge (12 micron) brushed metallized PET films. These new, thinner gauged brushed PET films will be of the same high quality and are available with a chemically treated print surface excellent for laminating to paper and board. The company reports that the thinner films will have the same high quality finish as the 92 gauge (23 micron) but will improve economies due to yield and will be available in larger rolls which require less changeovers. These films will be priced to compete with traditional holographic films. The worldwide popularity of brushed silver pattern has risen steadily through the decade as the technological advances to the films manufactured by Brushfoil have made it a viable option in any application where a stainless steel finish is required but without the stainless steel price. Brushfoil films can be found on products ranging from labels to household goods and, personal care packaging to appliance exteriors to automotive interiors. Many of today’s refrigerator fronts are decorated with Brushfoil films. In addition to PET, almost any plastic film with a smooth profile can be brushed to widths up to 67” (1700 mm) in thicknesses up to 10 mil (250 micron) and in a wide variety of colors such as brushed platinum, brushed copper and brushed pewter. Brushfoil is a leading manufacturer of brushed films and papers that enhance the appearance of consumer products in North America, South America and Europe. Brushfoil films provide an eye-catching, visual appeal that has become a favorite of package designers worldwide. A Tradition of Brushfoil Achievements During the fourth quarter of 2007, Brushfoil was acquired by Interfilm Holdings Inc., one of the leading film converters for industrial markets. In mid-2007, Brushfoil appointed Nelxon Technical Films of Araras, Brazil, as their distributor in South America. Nelxon (pronounced ‘nell-zahn’) distributes flexible films for industrial, packaging and graphic applications throughout the continent. In early 2007, Brushfoil achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification. In 2006, the Southern Connecticut manufacturing plant expanded for the second time and is now triple its original size (from 5,000 square feet to 15,000 SF). Fueling this increase has been the enormous growth, both domestically and overseas, of Brushfoil sales. The Brushfoil finish has graced the packages for such international brands as Philip Morris, Neutrogena, Clinique, and Gordon Ramsey Chocolates. Additionally, Brushfoil was selected by Package Design magazine to provide the finish for their 2006 “Designer’s Toolbox,” an annual package containing the year’s best package design ideas and mailed to their subscribers. A sample of these packages can be viewed in the “Gallery” section. |
